What format are the files I download?
Downloaded files from the Corderoy Shop are all 256kbps encoded MP3 files. The tracks are encoded directly from the original masters using a professional state of the art encoder, we offer the lower bit rates for buyers who do require the highest quality but as far as sound quality they are identical to the original master which means they sound fine when played on any system even in a professional studio.
Can I use any player to listen to my MP3s bought from the Corderoy shop? / Can I play them on a Mac or an iPod?
MP3s as a format are very compatible, numerous music players support MP3s. For example, WinAmp, Apple's iTunes (iPod), Windows Media Player and Real Media Player and new mobile devices.
Once I've paid for my MP3'S what happens next?
Once ordered and paid for within the shop you will receive an email from the Corderoy site with a personal download link(s) for your files.
To commence your download you will need to click on the link(s), you will then be given a download browser window, once you have selected the sepcified 'save as' location, the file will be saved to the location. Please note that your personal download link(s) will be active for 7 days from which you have 4 download attempts.
Do the files I have download from the Corderoy shop contain Digital Rights Management?
Within the shop only 256kbit/sec MP3 files are offered as downloads and do not contain Digital Rights Management which has issues that may cause licensing issues.
Once I've bought and downloaded a MP3 how many copies of the music I bought can I burn? / Which program shall i use to burn them to CD?
When you have completed a transaction and downloaded an MP3 from the shop, you are then the owner of the said file. Meaning no restrictions for CD burning, plus loading on to personal devices (ipod etc). However please remember that the downloads are yours and solely yours. Copyright laws still apply to downloads, even though you own them sharing, copying and distribution are totally illegal (We ask you never to indulge in such acts as this will stop us and other artists from producing more material for you to listen to in the future)
I've just bought a download, so where does my money actually go to?
Straight to the artists
The great news is other than around 30p payment handling via paypal your money goes towards creating more music! By buying from our shop you are buying music direct from us and supporting our effort to make more quality music. Most download shops take a big chunk of your money, meaning you are more than likely helping the shop rather than the people who created the original material.
Can I listen to the music before I buy it?
Of course, next to each item in the shop there is a preview link which will load a small pop-up media player.
Naturally all previews are of a very low quality when compared to the actual download. Our previews are 36kbit/sec flash files in order for you to quickly stream the track.
How long will it take for me to download my song(s)? Are the files very large?
Roughly a 256kbit/sec file is 14mb, a 192kbit/sec is 10mb and 128kbit/sec MP3 files are about 8mb, however this will vary slightly with the length of the song (which will be displayed) A 256kbit/sec file will take about 4 minutes on a 512kbit/sec broadband connection, but a dialup modem may take anything up to an hour depending on web traffic at that time. We recommend a broadband connection where available.
Whats the difference between the tracks I can buy direct from the shop and the ones I might see on illegal mp3 sites and/or peer-to-peer sharing networks?
Unfortunately quite a lot of music material is spread illegally on the Internet, which directly hurts labels and people like us who spend time making the songs, more often than not these files turn out to be the completely wrong tracks or mixes and are very inferior in quality compared to the real thing.
We do recognise as artists that there are some people out there who unfortunately want to make it more difficult for us to continue writing music by downloading and/or distributing pirate copies of our music, our view on these people is as non-music lovers as they are helping with the diminish of the music scene.
If you support us buy promoting legal downloads, we can continue to supply you with new material of the highest quality.
Whats wrong with giving my downloaded track to my friend, as he like the track too and it doesn't want to buy it if I have a copy?
Unfortunately to be able to create and bring you tracks costs us a lot of money, if everybody gave their friends a copy of the music, we would never be able to spend time doing something we love.
If you have bought the track and support us and if your friend likes it as much as you he will buy his own personal copy, helping us to bring out a lot more quality tracks for you to enjoy.
